NAGASE & CO., LTD. (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Kenji Asakura) will use the zeroboard greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculation and visualization cloud service of Zeroboard Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Michitaka Tokeiji) to calculate NAGASE’s GHG emissions. The zeroboard service is developed by Zeroboard Inc., which NAGASE entered into a business alliance with in September 2021 as a partner company carrying out sales and expansion. The service not only makes calculating GHG emissions of the user’s company more efficient, it also visualizes the GHG emissions from the supply chain. By using this service, NAGASE will not only work on calculating the company’s GHG emissions, it will also act as a model case for the chemicals industry in visualizing the GHG emissions in its supply chain, taking advantage of its network in the industry to encourage the widespread adoption of zeroboard.
In order to achieve efficient and accurate visualization of emissions in the supply chain, Zeroboard Inc. and NAGASE will examine making a package available to support GHG emissions calculations in the chemicals industry, as part of efforts to build a sustainable cooperative system working towards a carbon neutral society.
The zeroboard service is a cloud service developed by Zeroboard Inc. for calculating and visualizing GHG emissions, which was made available as a trial version in 2021 before being released as a full product on Friday, January 28, 2022. The system also received third-party assurance of its suitability, having been validated by SOCOTEC Certification Japan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), the Japanese branch of international certification body SOCOTEC, which has its group headquarters located in Paris, France. The system was validated with an inspection based on ISO 14064-3 as following the GHG emissions calculations international standards of the GHG Protocol, namely the Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard, as well as the GHG Protocol Scope 2 Guidance, ISO 14064-1, and Basic Guidelines on Accounting for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Throughout the Supply Chain (Ver 2.3) (by the Japanese Ministry of Environment). The zeroboard service will support calculations of GHG emissions following international standards in companies which use it, and will enable an increase in the efficiency and quality of GHG emissions calculations.
