NAGASE to Present “Healthy Indulgence” at the IFT16, Featuring TREHA® in Energy Drinks and Donuts

NAGASE, a leading innovator in food ingredients, will serve a grapefruit energy beverage and glazed donuts at IFT16, to highlight the multi-functionality of TREHA® in beverage and bakery applications. TREHA® is a unique, high performance food ingredient with consumer benefits for freshness, flavor, and texture. NAGASE will be at booth number #3817 at IFT16, held in Chicago from July 16-19, 2016.
“Grapefruit energy blast” beverage – This refreshing clear beverage contains 40% grapefruit juice concentrate, essential B vitamins, caffeine, and stevia for sweetness. It features TREHA® for off-note masking and creating a rounded, pleasing overall flavor. “Consumers are looking for better-for-you beverages but will not compromise on flavor,” said Sharrann Simmons, senior business manager at Nagase America. “TREHA® masks the off-notes of high intensity sweeteners and vitamins, plus modifying the intense astringency associated with flavors like grapefruit juice.”
“Superfine” glazed donut – These indulgent glazed donuts feature TREHA® for extended shelf-life and enhanced glaze appearance. Over time, donut glazes absorb moisture, becoming sticky and unappealing. This is especially true for yeast-raised donuts, with a characteristically more tender texture. TREHA® helps control moisture migration, producing a stable glaze that exhibits less stickiness over storage, while maintaining a clear, shiny glaze. “TREHA® enables product formulators to extend the freshness shelf-life of donuts with benefits for distribution and reduced food waste, not to mention improved profitability,” said Sharrann.
