  • Paints & Coatings
  • EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 3300 is a very low viscosity, light colored cycloaliphatic amine curing agent for use in formulating heat cured epoxies.
  • Isophorone diamine can be blended with other amine-based hardeners or with epoxy accelerators to achieve ambient curable epoxy compositions.
  • As a sole curing agent, EPIKURE Curing Agent 3300 can yield epoxy systems with relatively high heat distortion properties when properly cured.

Identification

Chemical Name:

Isophorone Diamine

Functionality

System:

Epoxy Systems (Resin & Curing Agent)

Function Description:

  • A cycloaliphatic amine curing agent that reacts with epoxy (epoxide) groups to form a crosslinked thermoset network
  • used to cure heat- and ambient-cured epoxy systems, providing structural integrity, thermal resistance and chemical resistance in laminates, coatings and castings.

Applications & Uses:

Used as an amine curing agent in epoxy formulations for laminates, high-build glazes, sealers, gel coats, light-colored castings, heat-curable binders for textiles, composite matrices, adhesives and other epoxy-based coatings and molded parts. Employed where low viscosity, low color and high heat/distortion resistance are required.

Benefits:

  • Low viscosity for easy handling and mixing
  • low color for light-colored castings and coatings
  • high purity and defined amine value allow precise formulation and consistent cure
  • yields cured systems with high Tg and good heat deflection
  • suitable for laminates, gel coats, castings and heat-curable textile binders.

Performance Attributes:

  • Very low viscosity (12–19 cP) for easy processing and blendability
  • high amine value (630–670 mg/g) and high purity (≥99.5%) for consistent stoichiometry and performance
  • enables epoxy systems with high Tg and high heat deflection temperatures (e.g., HDT up to 146 °C in tested formulations)
  • demonstrates good tensile properties, hardness and chemical resistance in cured systems.
