Nagase's newly invented environmental friendly wood material
"PLUSWOOD" is to be used in the rubber stamp stocks
production, which will be launched early 2001.
The wooden stock traditionally used in rubber stamps has
fast becoming a problem for environmental protection and has
led its price to escalate year after year. A Katsura tree
from Hokkaido or an imported Agachius wood is traditionally
used for stocks, which usually obtained by felling and therefore,
can cause instability both in quality and quantity. Cost for
getting the wood material has been increasing year by year
and moreover supply is limited due to environment conservation.
Price increase on the wooden part of the stamp product lowered
profits for stamp manufacturers. Polystyrene and others plastics
are hence used in rubber-stamp stocks. Including PS resins.
While it is now not uncommon to find plastic stamp stocks,
this technology for recycling stamp stocks is first of its
kind developed by Nagase. It is expected to be widely and
rapidly endorsed by both the public and private consumers
who are supportive of green products. Recycling stocks is
quite a sophisticated process and has not been successfully
attempted by other industry players. This start up business
by Nagase is definitely a value-add to the market. Nagase
has a foresight that the general public and government bodies
as well as schools will be advocating more on green products
as awareness on environmental protection is on the rise.
Nagase will supply the recyclable rubber stamp stocks to
Asahi Photo Resin Sales, a seller of photosensitive resins,
with whom Nagase ties up and has developed new rubber stamp
product branded under "LOGSEAL". This LOGSEAL rubber
stamp is recycled from used products and will be on the market
sometime in early 2001. LOGSEAL will contribute to the reduction
of environmental wastes because it requires no peeling off
top coating of stock surface after recovery. This is mainly
due to its unique bi-color forming technique used which binds
simultaneously with wood grain during manufacturing.
Nagase is targeting about 80% market share of rubber-stamp
stock market after a several years period.
