Nagase remains a leading domestic enzyme producer with a range
of more than five hundred products, and boasts a wide supply
base of a variety of industries. Highly expert in product
development technology especially microorganisms, Nagase will
prioritize it resources on market development of new products
as well as actively marketing of Denagrowth.
Denagrowth is a live bacteria solution for soil improvement
formulated from over 10 different strains of bacteria, primarily
anaerobic. The product is popularly accepted, not only in
Japan, but also in the Chinese market. A huge-scale field
test was conducted in the vegetable-farming Shandong Province,
and has resulted in increased yields, less need for fertilizers
and a reduction in damage from continuous cropping.
Nagase will also be accelerating new enzyme-related businesses,
including a joint research project for improving enzyme-producing
bacteria with the world's second largest enzyme manufacturer,
Genencor International, as well as pursuing other cooperative
research in biopharmaceuticals.
Nagase also has a wealth of expertise in research related
to chiral compounds, advancing the pharmaceuticals industry,
and is considering the synthesis of chiral
compounds through enzymes. In these and other ways Nagase
expects to make the best use of group synergy for the enzyme
business.
Nagase ChemteX reorganized
in April this year though the merger of four Nagase Group
companies will be continuing to promote Nagase's industrial-use
enzymes. The company will be emphasizing the development of
the enzyme business under its new structure using the integrated
strength of the group.
